Police Chase Ends With Crash, Arrest Of Morris County Teenager
The chase prompted two Sparta schools to shelter-in-place on Tuesday as a result.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County teen was arrested and charged for evading police after a chase that ended in a crash prompted two Sparta schools to shelter-in-place on Tuesday.
Erick Oliveira, 19, of Dover, was speeding in his black Mercedes-Benz on Demarest Road when he failed to stop for Officer Christopher Botta, according to the police department.
Oliveira's car then continued down the road before crashing near Teck Flex, police said.

Oliveira has been charged with eluding police with a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice, police officials said.
Police also added that two private schools in the area were put in a shelter-in-place out of an abundance of caution and urged people to avoid the area while officers investigated the incident.

However, after concluding their investigation and determining that there was no active threat to public safety, the two private schools returned to regular session.
"Thank you to the public for allowing us the opportunity to conduct our investigation and thank you to the area businesses for your assistance and support," police said in a statement.
