Police Log: Purse-Snatching, A Broken Ankle, And A Missing Teen Among Recent Complaints In Morris County

Morris County Park Police looked for a missing teen in Pyramid Mountain.

Police responded to reports of stolen purses and a missing child, among other complaints across Morris County parks:

Sept. 4

A woman returned to her car and found a horrible surprise. The window of her car had been smashed in and her purse, which had been sitting on the front seat, was missing. Morris County Park Police arrived at the scene, near the Rockaway River Access area of the Tourne County Park and took the report. The case has been transferred to the Detective Bureau.

On the same day in a different case, police officers stopped a car for a motor vehicle violation in Morris Township. They found that the 27-year-old driver, who was from Morristown, was in possession of dangerous controlled substances and driving with a suspended license. They consequently charged her with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor-Vehicle, and Driving with a Suspended License. She has since been released with a court date pending.

Also on that same day, in an unrelated case, officers stopped a car in Jefferson and discovered an outstanding warrant on the driver. The 51-year-old driver, who was also from Jefferson, had a warrant for failure to appear in the Jefferson Municipal Court. She posted bail and was released with a new court date pending.

Sept. 5

Police officers got wind of a missing child at Pyramid Mountain in Kinnelon. A man had been out at the Mountain with his 17-year-old son, who is autistic, and had somehow gotten separated from his child. The police went searching and found the teen on the Orange Trail. They reunited the son with his parents.

Sept. 6

Officers stopped a car in Randolph and found that the driver was in possession of some dangerous substances. They arrested the 29-year-old from Hanover and charged him with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He was consequently released with a court date pending.

Another pullover in an unrelated case in Butler led to the arrest of a 42-year-old from Elkton, Maryland. That individual had two warrants for failure to appear in Hoboken Municipal Court. He was taken in and then eventually released with a new court date pending.

Sept. 7

Officers got a call about an hiker being injured at the Tripod Rock area on Pyramid Mountain in Montville. A team went out and searched for the hiker, who had a broken ankle. That individual was located, carried out of the area, and then transported to the hospital for treatment.

Sept. 9

Police went out to Central Park in Parsippany on the report of a car crash. They found that a vehicle had hit another car, which was parked. There were no injuries, according to police reports.
