Recent Alcohol & DWI Arrests by Morristown Police

The following were charged by Morristown Police with driving while intoxicated or other alcohol-related offenses:

Sergio Contreras-Vasquez, 33, of Hanover Township, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, refusal to submit to a breath test and having unsealed or opened alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle at 8:03 p.m. on March 17. Officer Anthony O'Brien responded to report of a motor vehicle accident on Bank Street, where Contreras-Vasquez was acting in an excited manner, despite the minor accident, according a police report. Contreras-Vasquez said in regard to the vehicle he had just hit, "I just got out work and I was getting something to eat! Now this guy is yelling at me because I barely hit him," according to the report. He continued to be overly excited, according to the report, which prompted police to conduct a field sobriety test. During the test, an unopened bottle of 12-year-old Scotch was found in his vehicle, and Contreras-Vasquez made several statements, including that it had been in the vehicle for a long time and was not his, according to the report. He was later released by police after being deemed legally sober.

Christopher Grimes, 42, of Morris Township, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to use a turn signal and refusal to submit to a breath test at 2:58 a.m. on March 17. Officer Joseph Heuneman observed Grimes accelerating rapidly on Mount Kemble Avenue in the direction of Ann Street and eventually pulled him over on Washington Street, according to a police report. Grimes told Heuneman he had come from and had "a couple drinks," according to the report. He was later released into the custody of a relative.

Colleen Vino, 46, of Mendham, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and reckless driving at 12:08 a.m. on March 17. Officer Anthony O'Brien pulled Vino over on Spring Street after he saw her drive her vehicle into oncoming traffic and over a curbed median, according to his police report. Vino stopped her vehicle in the middle of the right lane and, when O'Brien asked Vino if she knew why he had stopped her, she responded, "I think I hit a skunk," according to the report. When asked if she had been drinking, Vino said she had "a glass of wine," according to the report. She registered .23 percent blood alcohol content, nearly triple the legal limit in New Jersey of .08 percent, according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a friend.

Juan Burgos, 38, of Mine Hill, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to keep right at 9:54 p.m. on March 15. Officer Anthony O'Brien observed Burgos' green pickup truck driving several feet over the double-yellow line on Ann Street, according to a police report. Once pulled over on Cattano Avenue, Burgos informed the officer he had been at "," and had "two beers," according to the police report. He was later released into the custody of a friend.
