Rite Aid Closing Down Morristown Location This Month
Rite Aid is closing its Morristown pharmacy, one of several around the country.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The local pharmacy, Rite Aid, is officially shutting down its Morristown location later this month.
According to a company spokesperson, the decision to close down the Morristown store was based on a variety of factors, including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability, and store performance.
The pharmacy, located at 213 South Street in Morristown, will be closing with the last day of business planned for Sept. 12.

Rite Aid, which operates over 2,000 locations in 17 states, announced this summer in a press release that fiscal 2024 losses would be larger than previously forecasted, with a net loss "expected to be between approximately $650 million and $680 million."
"Like all retail businesses, we regularly review each of our locations to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers, communities and overall business," a company spokesperson told Patch on Monday.

According to the company, prior to the shutdown, they will review each neighborhood to ensure that consumers have access to health services, whether at Rite Aid or a neighboring pharmacy, and will make every effort to smoothly transfer their prescriptions so that services are not disturbed.
Rite Aid management also stated that they make every effort to move associates to other Rite Aid sites.
Following the shutdown of the Morristown Rite Aid, the nearest Rite Aids are now in Denville and Lake Hiawatha.
Rite Aid is the fourth-largest drugstore business in the United States.
