NJ Youth Chorus Hosts Cantus Concert, Workshop

Tickets give you access to the concert on April 14 at Bernards High School's Performing Arts Center in Bernardsville and the workshop on April 15 at Delbarton School's Performing Arts Center in Morristown.

Cantus, a vocal ensemble, has toured nationwide and internationally. This acclaimed group is now stopping in our area. 

The New Jersey Youth Chorus is hosting a concert and workshop by Cantus, hailed as “the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States,” states the press release.

The concert will be on Sunday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Bernards High School’s Performing Arts Center, 25 Olcott Ave. in Bernardsville.

With the purchase of a concert ticket, area music educators are invited to participate in a workshop to be held for NJYC choristers on Monday, April 15, at 6 p.m. at the Delbarton School’s Performing Arts Center, 230 Mendham Road in Morristown.

Tickets will be sold for the April 14 concert to the general public at $15. Tickets for all choral directors/music educators will be sold for just $10. All music educators will be specially acknowledged during the concert, and will be listed in the program. Any available tickets will be sold at the door, but pre-sales are encouraged.

In bringing Cantus to the area, NJYC would like to encourage, promote, and celebrate boys’ singing in choir. Its Young Men’s Ensemble and its Advanced Treble Choir, will also perform during the April 14 concert.

The Chorus, who regularly hosts visiting youth choirs, such as the Drakensberg Boys Choir from South Africa, the Bach Children’s Chorus from Canada, the Crypt Choir from King's School in Canterbury, England, the Lincoln Boys Choir from Nebraska, Colgate 13 and Ithacapella.

Cantus is the recipient of numerous awards, including Chorus America’s highest honor, the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence (2009), as well as Chorus America’s Education Outreach Award (2011). Cantus is known around the world for its trademark warmth, blend, and engaging performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century.
