Safety Concerns Pop Up At Remodeled Morristown Senior Housing: Report
Non-residents have been coming in through unlocked doors and may be using drugs in the buildings, neighbors told the Housing Authority.

MORRISTOWN, NJ —Senior residents say they've had to deal with security concerns after a private company took over management of Morristown's public housing, including possible drug deals and strangers sleeping in their building.
The Bergen County-based real estate manager has pledged to investigate any illegal activity and provide stricter safety measures for getting in to the residences, according to a report by the Morristown Green.
Through a federal program called Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), the Morristown Housing Authority is allowing the real estate company to buy up their affordable housing buildings — with the understanding that the new property manager would make much-needed renovations to these living spaces.

The Orbach Group took over management of the two senior buildings on Early Street last year and is also the new landlord for Manahan Village, which houses families.
On Monday, tenants of the newly-renovated senior apartments told the MHA that people have been entering their buildings through unlocked and open doors, drinking alcohol, and potentially using drugs, as the Morristown Green reported.

In a statement, Orbach Affordable Housing Solutions told MorristownGreen.com that the company intends to address the complaints "regarding drugs, lack of security, and parking issues in our building."
