MORRISTOWN, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the central Morris County area until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

A severe thunderstorm seven miles south of Morristown began moving northeast. Additional thunderstorms are occurring along the area.

Wind gusts are up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail may occur. Towns included but not limited to:

The alert includes the following highways: Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 8 and 42. Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 38 and 48. Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 14 and 53.

The highways that may be impacted include Interstates 78, 80, and 287. Officials recommend avoiding roads and taking shelter.
