MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A winter weather advisory has been issued for Morris County as forecasters predict a chilly week of weather ahead.
The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday until about 9 a.m. Thursday, covering Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties.
The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts snow across New Jersey on Wednesday and Thursday, with some areas likely to experience heavier snowfall than others.

Here’s what is in store for the Morris County area, according to a winter weather advisory from the NWS:
"Some snow at the onset will change to mixed precipitation before changing to freezing rain this evening. As temperatures slowly rise late tonight and Thursday morning, a change to plain rain is expected for some areas."
The National Weather Service also added that mixed precipitation is expected, including ice and up to an inch of snow and sleet accumulation.

Here's the National Weather Service's latest area forecast:
- Wednesday: A chance of light snow, mainly after 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Wednesday Night: Snow and sleet before midnight, then sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain between midnight and 2 a.m., then periods of rain after 2a.m. Low around 30. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
- Thursday: A chance of rain, mainly before 10 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Light and variable wind becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
- Friday: Sunny, with a high near 33.
- Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.
- Saturday: Snow, mainly after 1 p.m. High near 34. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
- Saturday Night: Rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after 1 a.m. Low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
