MORRISTOWN, NJ — This past weekend, the Garden State’s first major snowfall of 2024 hit hardest in the northwestern part of the state, including areas around Morris County.

Even though Morristown didn't receive as much snow as other places in the county, the area still got enough snow for the kids to have some fun this weekend.

North Jersey got the most snow, with 13.5 inches falling in Wantage in Sussex County. While we didn't receive as much snow, Morris County did see totals as high as 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Green Pond, a private lakeside residential unincorporated community within Rockaway Township, logged the highest in the county with 8.1 inches. Lake Hopatcong came in next with 7.7 inches of snow reported.

  • Montville: 3.4 inches
  • Chatham: 3.3 inches
  • Madison: 2.5 inches
  • Mount Olive: 2.3 inches

Another "massive storm" is on track to hit New Jersey on Tuesday and could bring heavy rain, causing flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for the entire state that will begin on Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday night.
