Three Narcan Saves In Morris Twp Over Holiday Week

Police saved the lives of three adults using Narcan in the final days of 2018.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris Township police saved the lives of three adults using Narcan in the final week of 2018, police said.

All three adults, ranging in age from 22 to 40, were given the opioid overdose reversing medication after becoming unconsciousness. All three were given addiction recovery information and connected with a recovery specialist.

The first revival happened on Christmas Eve, when a 22-year-old man passed out behind the wheel of a car in the Fairchild section of town. Ptl. Yarzab and Morris County EMS gave the man Narcan, and he was taken to Morristown Medical Center.

The second revival happened five days later on Dec. 29, when a 32-year-old woman overdosed near Lake Road. She was given three doses of Narcan by Ptl. Dombrowski, Ptl. Dungee, Ptl. Yarzab, Ptl. Mangiaracina, Det. Boeninghaus, and Sgt. Markt. After given Narcan, she was taken to Morristown Medical Center.

Finally, on Dec. 30, a 40-year-old man was saved on Fairview Place. Ptl. Dombrowski, Ptl. Dungee, Ptl. Hough, Ptl. Lezak, and Sgt. Crowley gave the man two doses of Narvan, and he was taken to Morristown Medical Center.

"Chief of Police Mark DiCarlo would like to recognize the officers mentioned above for utilizing their training with the utmost professionalism in order to administer life-saving efforts to people suffering from opioid overdoses. We as an agency will continue to promote a stigma-free environment while responding to calls for service and providing aid and resources to those in need," police said.
