MORRISTOWN, NJ — Tommy DeVito's intended appearance at a Morristown pizza shop has sparked controversy after it was unexpectedly canceled.

According to Nino Coniglio, owner of Coniglio’s Old Fashioned in Morristown, DeVito had been hired for a meet-and-greet between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 19. However, Coniglio claimed they received news from DeVito's agent, Sean Stellato, that the rookie quarterback's attendance fee would be doubled from $10,000 to $20,000.

“No Tommy DeVito will NOT be at Coniglio’s this Tuesday as originally planned,” Coniglio wrote in a social media post. “After last week’s win, we received word from his agent that his appearance fee would be doubling (went from 10k to 20); We are a small family-run business & decided $20,000 was a bit steep for 2 hours.”

The restaurant, which has hosted Giants legends like Eli Manning, apologized to New York fans and stated that they would reimburse those who had already booked tickets.

"PS Sorry about that loss today, #nygiants fans—but we’re Italian too & don’t like when someone says one thing & does another," Coniglio said.

Neither Coniglio or Stellato immediately responded to Patch's request for comment.

After Coniglio’s initial social media post spread, Stellato spoke out in a statement to sports business reporter Darren Rovell.

“It’s a shame that the restaurant promoted that they would have Tommy when we didn’t have a signed contract. We didn’t raise the price because nothing was ever agreed to,” Stellato said.

In response, Coniglio shared a text message with Rovell, proving that there was an initial agreement made between Stellato and the restaurant.

“We agreed in principle to terms — 2 hours, 250 autographs and $10,000 and then the agent couldn’t be reached. He reached back out after Monday’s game to tell us the price was now $20,000,” Coniglio told Rovell.

Coniglio's Old Fashioned is located at 11 South Street in Morristown.

The pizza shop opened late last year with tremendous enthusiasm from the community, with lines forming before the pizzeria opened its doors.

Coniglio's event won the title of "Best Pizza in NJ" in the third annual Pizza Bowl, only two months after it opened, showcasing its popularity throughout the community.

The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
