MORRISTOWN, NJ — President Donald Trump was in Morristown this weekend and commented on several national issues troubling the country.

Prior to boarding Air Force One at Morristown Airport on Sunday, Trump fielded several questions from reporters before heading back to Washington, D.C.

Trump began the conference by discussing the tragic flooding that devastated Central Texas this weekend. Currently, over 90 people are confirmed dead, with dozens still missing, according to Texas officials.

“We’ve been in touch with (Texas) Governor (Greg) Abbott… We’re working very close with representatives from Texas,” the President said in a C-SPAN video. “It’s a horrible thing that took place, absolutely horrible. So we say God bless all of the people that have gone through so much, and God bless the state of Texas, it’s an incredible place.”

For years, Trump has been very open about his plans to phase out the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); however, the management agency was activated by the Trump administration following the Texas flooding.

“FEMA is something we can talk about later, but right now they’re busy working,” Trump told a reporter. “So we’ll leave it at that.”

The President also added that he intends to visit Texas “probably on Friday.”

Israel-Iran Conflict

Trump is scheduled to have a discussion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday afternoon regarding the Iran-Israel conflict and Hamas hostages.

During the conference at Morristown Airport, Trump said he intends to work on a "permanent deal” with Iran following his meeting with Netanyahu. He also cited the U.S.’s recent attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“We’re working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent deal with Iran,” he said. “Of course, they have to give up all of the things that you know so well. The attack turned out, according to every single atomic energy commission, as a complete and total obliteration… Every bomb hit its mark perfectly.”

Trump added that he is “close to a deal” regarding hostages in Gaza, adding that it could be reached this week.

Ukraine And The 2020 Election

During this weekend’s conference, Trump claimed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict would not have occurred if “the (2020 Presidential) election weren’t rigged.”

“I am helping Ukraine, I’m helping it a lot,” Trump said. “It’s a war that should’ve never happened… If I were President, if the election weren’t rigged… You wouldn’t have a war with Russia right now.”

Trump also blamed inflation, the 2020-2021 troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the Israel-Iran conflict on the “rigged election.”

The President also commented on his recent calls with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I thought it was a good call. (Zelensky) is being hit very hard, as I said he would,” he said. “And I was very disappointed with my call with President Putin, I was very disappointed.”

Trump also briefly touched on topics including Elon Musk’s new political party, the new Washington Commanders’ Football Stadium, and tariff rates.
