Woman Hospitalized After Being Hit By NJ Transit Train In Morristown

The incident Saturday night left the woman with a severe leg injury, said officials.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — First responders took a woman to the hospital after she was hit by an NJ Transit train Saturday evening at the Morristown station, according to officials.

Train operators reported that a woman on the platform had "a severe leg injury" after being struck by the train around 7:23 p.m. Emergency responders transported the woman to the hospital, officials said.

NJ Transit reported that the Morris & Essex Line train 6396 was headed from Dover to Penn Station New York when the incident happened. No injuries were listed to the customers or crew on board.

Transit officials cancelled Train 6396 at Morristown Station and customers were able to board a following train, a spokesman said. NJ Transit police are leading the investigation.

The cause of the collision was unknown as of Monday morning, and an agency spokesman said he did not have an update on her condition.

Officials said the train had left Dover at around 7:05 p.m., and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 8:40 p.m.
