NEWARK, NJ — Holiday-themed events will take place in the north and south wards of Newark this weekend.
Here’s what is on the schedule, according to organizers:
NORTH WARD

A holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting will take place in the city’s North Ward on Friday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
The parade will begin at Elwood Park, travel along Elwood Avenue to Mt. Prospect Avenue, then continue down Mt. Prospect to 2nd Avenue. The night will end with a tree lighting at Common Thread Park, across from The North Ward Center.

SOUTH WARD
The South Ward Winter Wonderland Festival will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. on Bergen Street between Custer and Shephard avenues.
The event – hosted by South Ward council member Patrick Council – will include a tree lighting, entertainment and toy/coat giveaways. For more information, call 973-733-3753 or 973-733-3754.
