New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has announced the launch of the Highlander Gateway Scholarship, a significant new scholarship program designed to expand educational access for talented first-time, full-time undergraduate students from New York and Pennsylvania.
Beginning with the incoming fall 2026 class, this scholarship guarantees that all eligible New York and Pennsylvania students receiving a merit-based scholarship will have the entire out-of-state tuition differential fully covered through scholarship. This commitment ensures students receive the full benefit of a merit scholarship without the burden of the additional non-resident cost.

The scholarship is renewable for full-time undergraduate study, provided students maintain academic progress and achieve GPA standards. All New York and Pennsylvania applicants offered admission are automatically considered — no separate application is required.
"This new initiative directly reflects NJIT’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to a high-quality, affordable education," said Susan Gross, senior vice provost for enrollment management. "By removing the financial hurdle of the out-of-state tuition differential, we are making an NJIT degree more attainable and appealing to talented students across New York and Pennsylvania, thereby strengthening our role and reach in the metropolitan area."
