A Rally for Sick Time Law and Public Review of Major Newark Highway Project

What's going on Thursday, Nov. 14 in Newark

On Thursday, Nov. 14, civic leaders will join Newark council members Anibal Ramos, Ras Baraka and Darrin Sharif for a demonstration outside Dunkin’ Donuts, 266 Park Ave., to raise awareness of proposed council legislation that will require employers in Newark to offer paid sick time to their workers. Among the speakers will be daycare, direct care and food-service workers who would be affected by the law. The rally starts at 3:30 pm.


Also Thursday, the public will have a chance to learn about the proposed traffic improvement plan for the I-280/Rt. 21 interchange. The major roadways converge in downtown Newark.


The meeting, being conducted by the state Department of Transportation, will be held in the community room of the House of Prayer Episcopal Church, 407 Broad St., at 4 pm.
