A Rally to Raise Jersey's Minimum Wage and a College Hockey Tourney

On Saturday, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono joins Mayor (and Senator-elect) Cory Booker for a rally in support of a ballot initiative to raise the state’s minimum wage by $1, to $8.25 an hour. The initiative -- which appears on the ballot for the Nov. 5 election -- will affect an estimated 11 percent of the state’s workforce.

The rally will be held in Washington Park, 547 Broad St., at 3 pm.

Also this weekend, some of the best college hockey teams in the country meet up for a tournament at the Prudential Center. The Liberty Hockey Invitational, to be held Saturday and Sunday, brings together teams from Yale, Brown, Princeton and Dartmouth for a contest to win the Liberty Trophy. Hockey teams from Maine, Massachusetts, Merrimack and Vermont are also taking part.
