Authorities Investigating Double-Homicide in Newark Tuesday

Two people described as “middle aged” were found murdered in a Newark home Tuesday afternoon, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.

The victims, whose names were not released, were discovered by police responding to a call around 3:30 pm in the 400 block of S. 11th Street. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 4 pm.

The cause of death was not known early Tuesday evening.
