Border Patrol Seizes $1.3M In Counterfeit Toys From China
Over 150,000 fake toys were seized on Dec. 9 at the Port of New York and Newark.

NEWARK, NJ — Federal agents with Customs and Border Protection this month seized over 150,000 fake toys that were included in a shipment from China.
In a news release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the toys were identified in a November search of a shipment. Photos of the toys were sent to the department's Mass Merchandising Center for Excellence and Expertise, which contacted the brand copyright holders and determined they were counterfeits.
The shipment was seized on Dec. 9 and included over 140,000 UNO card games, 96,00 LOL Surprise! Under Wraps balls and 1,980 LOL Surprise! Under Wraps capsules. Had they been real, the toys would have totaled approximately $1.3 million in value, CBP said.

CBP New York Field Office Director Troy Miller said the crackdowns help protect consumers and legitimate businesses from unverified products.
“Once again, Customs and Border Protection has demonstrated its commitment to protecting the American consumer against the proliferation of substandard and potentially unsafe counterfeit consumer goods,” Miller said in a statement. “Enforcing Intellectual Property Rights laws is a CBP priority trade mission. We will continue to work closely with our trade and law enforcement partners to identify and seize counterfeit merchandise that could potentially harm our Nation’s consumers and businesses.”
