An 18-year-old city man was shot and killed early Sunday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police confirmed.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue around 1 am, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly said. The victim, Gary Anderson, was found in a building vestibule suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital around 2:30 am, Fennelly also said.
