Earlier this month Essex County hosted the Estrella del Condado de Essex (Stars of Essex) Awards honoring county residents of Hispanic descent. Among the honorees was Esmeralda Diaz-Cameron, who headed up the city’s press office until she went to work for Verizon as public relations manager for the New York region earlier this year. Also honored were George Torres, president of the Hispanic Law Enforcement Society.
