Grant Will be Used for Security Equipment at ECC
Funds provided by federal Department of Homeland Security

Essex County College (ECC) is the recipient of a $157,000 New Jersey Office of Homeland Security grant, money which will be used to purchase new security cameras and equipment at the main Newark campus.
With the specifications prepared and a vendor identified, the security equipment is expected to be up and running before the end of the year, said Dr. Joyce Wilson Harley, Acting Vice President for Administration & Finance. “The new equipment will enhance our camera operations, and the units can be used both inside and outside the building.”
Harley said Homeland Security urges facilities in the metropolitan area to have good security surveillance in place. In 2004, the nearby Prudential Building in downtown Newark was listed as a terror target, and the college is near Newark Liberty International Airport, another potential target.
