NEWARK, NJ — Indian airline Vistara may enter the United States with a flight from Newark to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, regulatory filings show.

The flight would make one stop at London's Gatwick Airport, airline industry news outlet PaxEx.Aero reported.

It would be Vistara's first flight servicing the United States, according to PaxEx.Aero, and the airline would fly its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Vistara was granted enough slots — permissions to use an airport's runway, terminal, gates and other infrastructure — from Gatwick Airport to operate the flight three times a week, according to Simple Flying.

However, the airline has yet to confirm whether it will actually offer the flights, Simple Flying reported.

Earlier this year, Vistara applied to the US Department of Transportation for a foreign air carrier permit, according to a separate PaxEx.Aero story.

At the time, it had hoped to begin service in the United States by September 2021, the news outlet said.
