Man Robbed Newark Bank Twice, Authorities Say
Alfred Ferguson, 55, allegedly used similar method in both heists

A city man caught shortly after he robbed an Ironbound bank Tuesday had also robbed the bank previously, accordiong to the US Attorney’s office.
Alfred Ferguson, 55, was arrested by Newark police a few blocks from Garden State Community Bank after he entered the bank wearing a bandanna covering his face, threatened a teller, jumped over the glass partition and grabbed money from the tellers’ drawers. He fled the scene on a bicycle and was captured a few blocks away.
Authorities say Ferguson, who appeared in court Wednesday, used a similar method when be robbed the bank on Sept. 17.
If convicted on the bank robbery charges, Ferguson faces a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense, for each count with which he is charged.
