Is New Jersey Really One of America’s Most Introverted States? Report Reveals

Study hints that a little introspection could go a long way for some residents

A hard hitting national study is challenging the stereotype that New Jersey residents are loud, bustling, and always ready to argue in the ShopRite parking lot. Solitaire Bliss analyzed introversion across the country and found that New Jersey sits comfortably in the middle of the pack. We are not among the most introverted states, but we are far from the least.

The research looked at behavioral markers of introversion and how often people choose quiet or solitary activities. New Jersey’s most introverted habit might not surprise anyone who has lived here for more than five minutes. The state ranked number eight for one specific activity that introverts prefer: eating and drinking alone. That checks out. If there is anything Jersey residents take seriously, it is good food and not having anyone bother them while they enjoy it.

What is interesting is how this study highlights a softer side of New Jersey that often gets overlooked. Many residents simply like their space. They value time alone. They do not feel compelled to be the loudest voice in the room. And frankly, that is a trait more people across the country could benefit from. If some of the men who spend their time spiraling into incel forums embraced a little introspection and treated women with basic respect and dignity, they might find themselves less lonely and a lot less angry.

Overall, the findings show that New Jersey’s personality is more balanced than the usual clichés suggest. We are social when we want to be, quiet when we need to be, and always ready for a good meal either way.
