Newark Mom Of 6 'The Most Optimistic Person I Know,' Loved By So Many

NEWARK, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom who is now 80 was a housewife who made sure anybody who was hungry ate. She literally would give her last to someone in need. My mom had 6 children but helped raise many. When she lost her first limb to diabetes, she was determined not to let that hinder her from taking care of her grandchildren and others' children in our neighborhood. My mom taught us to always look at things positively and though she's been diagnosed with dementia, she is still the most optimistic person I know. People who used to live in our community come from far and near to check on this lady because she has always made them feel special. I love my mom to the moon and back. I thank God that she is my mom.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She is humble and would never want credit for the many sacrifices she's made in helping the many people who have passed her way.
