Quintana Officially Assumes Office and New Corrections Officers Join the Ranks

This week, Luis Quintana will be sworn in as the first mayor of Hispanic descent ever in the city’s 300-year history. The ceremony takes place Tuesday at 12:30 pm at city hall.

Also this week, the state Attorney General’s Office will provide final numbers of those who took part in the Fugitive Safe Surrender program this past weekend in Jersey City. Thousands of people from throughout North Jersey, including Essex County, have taken part, according to preliminary statistics provided by the AG’s office.

On Thursday comes another swearing-in ceremony, for corrections officers at the cou8nty correctional facility on Doremus Avenue. The ceremony starts at 10 am.
