Woman Accused of Robbery, Man Faces Weapons Charges

23-year-old allegedly threw semi-automatic 9mm gun loaded with hollow-point bullets out an apartment window when authorities arrived.

Essex County sheriff’s detectives arrested a woman Tuesday on a robbery charge and also arrested a man at her apartment who was in possession of a handgun, Sheriff Armando Fontoura said in a statement.

Officers arrived at the Pennsylvania Avenue apartment of Al-Qayima Bell, 20, shortly before 7 a.m. with an arrest warrant. When Bell opened the door, sheriff’s officers saw Qaasim Sherrod, 23, run to the back of the apartment and throw something out the window, Fontoura said.

Officers found the item, a semi-automatic 9mm handgun loaded with illegal hollow-point bullets, Fontoura said.
