Winter Wonderland Fest Coming To Newark’s South Ward: 2023 Events

New Jersey's largest city is proving to be a "winter wonderland" for holiday events this year.

NEWARK, NJ — New Jersey’s largest city is proving to be a winter wonderland for holiday events this year.

A “Winter Wonderland Festival” is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 in the city’s South Ward. It will take place on Bergen Street (between Custer Avenue and Shephard Avenue).

According to a news release from South Ward Councilman Patrick Council, the event will include a tree lighting, refreshments, crafts and activities, and live entertainment. There will also be a coat and toy giveaway for local residents.

The event is taking place with support from Mayor Ras Baraka and organizations such as the South Ward Special Improvement District and South Ward Promise Neighborhood.

Meanwhile, the city’s annual “Winter Village” in Mulberry Commons Park continues to attract visitors, who can enjoy an ice-skating rink, go-karts, carnival games and shopping – or even rent a private heated igloo. Food and beverages are available to purchase from local vendors.

The festive event at Mulberry Commons Park is located just outside the Prudential Center. For the 2023-2024 season, the village will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays to Fridays, and from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
