New Milford Awarded NJDOT Grant
New Milford awarded grant for $146,500 for paving Center Street.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced that it has awarded 387 Local Aid grants to 376 cities and towns across the state to advance street improvement, rehabilitation and safety projects. Local Aid grants allow municipalities to move forward with road rehabilitation projects without burdening local property taxpayers.
New Milford was awarded $146,500 for paving Center St. from Boulevard to the Oradell town line. Bergenfield received $146,500 for repairs to their section of Graphic Boulevard and River Edge recieved $146,500 for work to be done on Howland Ave.
Borough officials said that they had applied for $225,000 towards the $320,000 that it is estimated to cost to repave that section of Center St. In light of the amount of the award, officials say that the project will have to be scaled back.
