8-Year-Old Union County Girl Struck By 83-Year-Old Driver

The girl was transported by ambulance to the University Hospital in Newark and is being treated for a mild concussion and broken femur.

An 8-year-old Linden girl was struck by a 2000 Dodge Intrepid driven by an 83-year-old man, whose name has not been released by police, while crossing East Blancke Street with her bicycle on Tuesday.

The driver, who was uninjured, was heading west on East Blancke Street near Washington Avenue around 6:08 p.m. when the girl rode her bicycle into his path while traveling south across East Blancke Street, according to My Central Jersey.

The girl was transported by ambulance to the University Hospital in Newark and is being treated for a mild concussion, broken femur and other non-life threatening injuries, according to nj.com.
