Oakland Public Schools to Follow Minimum Day Schedule Monday Due to Blizzard Watch
The alert says the state should expect "heaving snow and blowing snow with blizzard conditions" and 1 to 2 feet of snow accumulations.

Oakland Public Schools will follow a minimum day schedule Monday after being placed under a Blizzard Watch.
The schedule is as follows:
- Valley Middle School: 8 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
- Elementary Schools: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Morning Preschool: 9 a.m. - 11:35 a.m.
- Afternoon Preschool: 10:25 a.m. - 1 p.m.
All after school and evening activities are canceled.

The Blizzard Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening, as the National Weather Service says a “potentially historic winter storm [is scheduled] to impact the area from late Monday into Tuesday.”
According to the alert, the state should expect “heavy snow and blowing snow with blizzard conditions likely” and 1 to 2 feet of snow accumulations.

The “heaviest snow and strongest winds will occur overnight Monday into Tuesday,” causing “extremely dangerous travel.”
The alert also warns of “whiteout conditions,” impassable secondary and tertiary roads, and strong winds that can potentially bring down power lines and tree limbs.
