2021 Election Day In Ocean City: When, Where To Vote

The general election is Tuesday in New Jersey. Here's what you need to know.

OCEAN CITY, NJ - The 2021 general election is Tuesday. Here's a last look at your options for voting, along with who's on the ballot in Ocean City.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in New Jersey for those who did not take advantage of the early voting period.

For the second year in a row, residents can vote by mail. They can also use the vote-by-mail drop boxes that have been set up across the district. Ocean City residents can find their drop box at Ocean City Municipal Hall located at 861 Asbury Ave.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked or placed in drop boxes on or before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ocean City residents will vote for governor and state legislative seats, as well as local school board members. First Ward voters in Ocean City will also choose a representative to complete an unexpired term on city council.

Who Is On The Ballot?

  • Governor's race: Gov. Murphy is running for reelection this year against Republican Jack Ciattarelli, Madelyn Hoffman of the Green Party, Gregg Mele of the Libertarian Party, and Joanne Kuniansky of the Socialist Workers Party.
  • State Senate: In district 1, incumbent Republican Mike Testa Jr. will face Democratic challenger Yolanda E. Garcia Balicki.
  • General Assembly: Republican incumbents Erik Simonsen and Antwan McClellan are running in District 1 against Democrats John P. Capizola Jr. and Julia L. Hankerson for the two assembly seats.
  • First Ward Council: Three candidates are running for a 2.5 year term: Donna Moore, Terrance Crowley Jr. and Donna Swan DeRocher.
  • School Board: Eleven candidates are vying for three open seats. See the full list of candidates here.
  • State Constitutional Questions: Voters will be asked to approve a constitutional amendment to permit wagering on all college sport or athletic activities and a constitutional amendment to allow certain organizations authorized to conduct games of chance to use proceeds from those games to support the organization.

Where Can I Vote?

Those looking for a drop box for vote-by-mail ballots can use any in Cape May County. A vote-by-mail drop box has been set up at Ocean City Municipal Hall, located at 861 Asbury Ave. A total of 12 drop boxes are available in Cape May County and their addresses can be found listed on the Cape May County Clerk's Election Division website.

The vote-by-mail ballots will be picked up daily and brought to the Board of Elections. All security measures will be followed when collecting and transporting the vote-by-mail ballots, officials said.
