SOMERS POINT, NJ — Throughout the year, grateful patients and families thank their caregivers at Shore Medical Center through their Guardian Angel program. And on Dec. 12, this year's 46 Guardian Angels were honored at the annual Guardian Angel Pinning Ceremony.

Throughout the year, Shore's Guardian Angels are recognized individually at presentations in their department, where they receive a certificate and hear the thoughtful words shared by the patient about the difference their Shore Guardian Angel made in their experience. They are selected through a donation to Shore Medical Center in the Guardian Angel's honor.

The ceremony brings the year's Guardian Angels together to receive their Guardian Angel pins in the company of their family, friends, colleagues and even the patients who nominated them.

During the ceremony, Mary McGuckin, Shore Lightkeeper' Society Manager who also runs the Guardian Angel program, welcomed guests and expressed gratitude to the patients and families who support Shore through the Guardian Angel program.

“The Guardian Angel program was founded in 2007 to give patients and their families an opportunity to show their appreciation for the dedicated men and women at Shore who care for them by making a donation,” McGuckin said. “While supporting the medical center, these gifts also shine a spotlight on the exceptional caregivers at Shore, making them an example for their peers and emphasizing our commitment to patient-centered care.”

“To our hospital guardian angels, thank you for your unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others. Your work is a light in the darkest moments and your kindness leaves a lasting impact on every life you touch,” said Shore Chief Nursing Officer Jill Shulz. “We also honor those patients who received that special extra care and took the time to acknowledge them through our Guardian Angel program.”

McGuckin then called up each recipient and Shulz presented them with a custom-designed Guardian Angel pin to wear proudly on their badge as a symbol of the difference they made. To see the complete list of Shore Medical Center's 2024 Guardian Angels, visit www.shoremedicalcenter.org/abo....
