OCEAN CITY, NJ — If you’re like many of your Ocean City neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
1. Ocean City Ecumenical Council: This faith-based organization provides a food cupboard, clothes closet and support families and residents in need.
2. The Colony Club of Ocean City: These volunteers support programs like beach cleaning, Wreaths Across America and more to help improve the Ocean City community.
3. Oh Sea Thrift: By shopping at this thrift store, you support the Humane Society of Ocean City, helping out animals and wildlife.
4. Ocean City American Legion: The Legion supports veterans and active military members through events and more.
5. Exchange Club of Ocean City: This group of local business leaders exchanges ideas to support the community and make it a better place.
