ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - A South Jersey man was sentenced Thursday for possessing multiple videos and images of child pornography, federal officials said.

Cory Newman, 44, was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty in August to one count of possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.

In addition to the prison term, Newman was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release.

The sentencing stems from a May 2021 search of Newman’s residence in Atlantic City from the Department of Homeland Security, which resulted in the discovery of electronic devices containing numerous videos and images of children being sexually abused, according to court documents.

Sellinger credited special agents of HSI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patel, with the investigation leading to the sentencing. He also credited the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, and the Atlantic City Police Department, under the direction of Interim Officer in Charge Deputy Chief James A. Sarkos, for aid in the investigation.
