Boardwalk Businesses Pitch In for Clean Oceans

Henry's Jewelers donates $1,800 to Clean Ocean Action.

Representatives of , , , and  gathered on the on Friday afternoon to present an $1,800 check to the environmental group Clean Ocean Action.

Henry's donated a portion of the sales of its popular “Best of the Boardwalk” bead, which featured the four other Boardwalk merchants.

Nina Camburn-Brown and Jeff Sherman help of Henry’s Jewelers helped make the presentation.

Representing Clean Ocean Action, Zach McCue spoke of his "deep appreciation" for the donation and a "partnership we cherish." Looking out over a beach filled with visitors on a beautiful September day, McCue said its important for Clean Ocean Action to continue its initiatives, including water quality testing, awareness efforts and semi-annual beach cleanups.

The nonprofit started 30 years ago to protest ocean dumping and has developed into a leading national and regional voice working to protect waterways using science, law, research, education and citizen action.

The fall beach sweep is scheduled for 75 locations on Oct. 20. Locally, volunteers are asked to meet at the Ocean City Music Pier on that date.
