Crawling To Fame In The Ocean City Pamper Scamper

The annual crawling races are a summer tradition in Ocean City.

Ocean City's youngest residents and visitors showed off their speed on Tuesday morning in the annual Pamper Scamper — a crawling race for children age 15 months and under.

A parachute spread out on the beach at Sixth Street served as the race track with parents placing their children in the center then retreating to the perimeter. First babies to reach mom, dad and sand were the winners.

The event is an annual August tradition that features some quick crawling — but mostly just young beach bums hanging out together on a parachute on the beach.

Winners in the grand-champion heat were:

  • Colin Walsh, 9 seconds, (no hometown available), age 12 mos.
  • Keegan Ruskoski, 16 seconds, Ocean City, age 14 mos.
  • Jackson Candeloro, 17 seconds, Upper Township, age 9 mos.
