Five Things to Know About Thursday's Council Agenda
Cars under houses, $100,000 bay cleanup, city pay raises and a new "no turn on red."

City Council has a full agenda for its public meeting 7 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 22) at the Ocean City Free Public Library, but here are five things that might be of special interest:
- New "No Turn on Red": City Council will consider the first reading of an ordinance that would prohibit right turns on red at the intersection of 29th Street and West Avenue. The designation would apply to cars traveling south on West and turning right onto 29th Street.
- Cars Under Houses: City Council will consider the second and potentially final reading of an ordinance that refines zoning rules to fit a post-Sandy world. The ordinance includes many provisions, but one makes it easier to fit garages under homes being elevated to meet new guidelines for flood safety.
- Bay Cleanup at 10th Street: City Council will consider the second and potentially final reading of an ordinance that authorizes the spending of $100,000 to clear damaged docks and other debris from the bay near 10th Street. The damaged structures are part of the former Dan's Dockside Marina property on the 900 block of Palen Avenue.
- Pay Raises for City Managers: City Council will consider the second and potentially final reading of an ordinance that increases the salaries of the city's finance director, police chief and city clerk, among other provisions.
- Breathe Easy Campaign: The Ocean City Council on Physical Fitness & Sports will make a special presentation to City Council.
