Kristen Wiig Film Set in Ocean City Opens Friday

'Girl Most Likely' will be playing at the Strand theater on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Ocean City plays a supporting role in a Kristen Wiig comedy film set for release on Friday (July 19).

The island serves as the setting for the story of a woman (Wiig) who fakes suicide after a romantic break-up and returns home to live with her mother (Annette Bening).

The "Girl Most Likely" trailer features scenes of the Ocean City Boardwalk, rides, pizza parlors and even a beach outfall pipe.

"Girl Most Likely" premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and was previously titled "Imogene." The debut there led Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate to pick up the film for distribution. It features the "Icona pop song, "I Love It."

Matt Dillon and Darren Criss also star in the film.

Crews were in Ocean City to film background shots at least three years ago, Ocean City Communications Manager Laurie Howey said earlier this year. But most of the scenes were filmed in New York.

The Strand theater at Ninth Street and Boardwalk will be showing the film starting on Friday. Call 609-840-6149 for show times.
