Man Injured In Middle Township Motel Fire, Police Say

The fire broke out at a motel located in the Burleigh section of Middle Township on Friday morning, police said.

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at a local motel on Friday, Middle Township Police said.

At 7:45 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a structure fire at the Meadowbrook Motel, located in the Burleigh section of Middle Township.

Once officers arrived at the motel, they saw smoke coming from Unit #16 on the east side of the building. Fire department personnel arrived shortly after and started fire suppression efforts, police said.

As a result of the fire, a 33-year-old man sustained burn injuries and was brought to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, for treatment, police said.

Authorities did not specify how severe the man’s injuries were or if anyone else was injured in the fire. Patch has reached out to Middle Township Police for further information.

An investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is being conducted by the Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Cape May Court House Fire Department, Rio Grande Fire Department, Green Creek Fire Department, AtlantiCare EMS and Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and/or are helping with the investigation.
