Murphy Vs. Ciattarelli: How Ocean City Voted
In the closest gubernatorial election in decades, here's a look at how Ocean City voted.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — It has been the closest gubernatorial race in decades. With the race declared for Phil Murphy over Jack Ciattarelli with 98 percent of the votes counted statewide, here's a look at how Ocean City and Cape May County voted.
The voter turnout in Cape May County was 51.5 percent, according to unofficial tallies published by the Cape May County Board of Elections as of Friday. Of 74,494 registered voters in the county, there are 31,818 registered Republicans, 18,446 registered Democrats and 24,230 unaffiliated voters.
In Ocean City, 54 percent of the city’s registered voters cast ballots for Murphy or Ciattarelli.

Of Ocean City’s 9,579 registered voters, 5,192 cast ballots, with 3,201 for Ciattarelli and 1,991 for Murphy, according to the unofficial vote tallies.

The official election results will be determined at the Board of Canvassers meeting on Nov. 15 and the County Clerk must certify official election results to the Secretary of State by Nov. 20.
As of 2 p.m. Friday, Murphy had a margin of 57,379 votes — 1,273,034 to 1,215,655 according to the Associated Press.
All ballots postmarked before Nov. 2, will be counted until Nov. 8.
