NORTH WILDWOOD, NJ — The Surfing Pig, creator and sponsor of “The Wildwoods Greatest Treasure Hunt 2023,” is set to reveal the next clue in the hunt for July, offering a chance to win $5,000.

Throughout the summer, The Surfing Pig is giving away a total of $15,000 (one prize per month in June, July, and August) through the family-friendly activity designed to give back to those supporting The Wildwoods business community while encouraging locals and tourists to explore a range of unique features in the area.

Earlier this month, the first $5,000 prize was claimed by four Cape May County friends who put their heads together to locate the hidden key that unlocked their “treasure” at the Surfing Pig. Read more: 4 Friends Win $5K In Wildwoods Treasure Hunt By The Surfing Pig

Michael Murphy of Upper Township, one of the winners of the June prize, said that it is worth coming to the Thursday happy hour to get the early clue on Friday. He and three friends discovered the lockbox with the key to unlock the treasure chest at Albert I. Allen Memorial Park in North Wildwood.

The treasure hunt key may be hidden in any of the island’s three cities—Wildwood Crest, Wildwood or North Wildwood. Up to four clues will be released in July at the rate of one per week. If the key is not located after four weeks, the $5,000 will roll over into August’s winnings, making the treasure chest worth $10,000.

“Our vision was for this hunt to provide a unique way for friends and families to come together and explore The Wildwoods, and that is exactly what’s happening,” said The Surfing Pig Owner Bill Bumbernick. “Yes, the prize is great, but this initiative is first and foremost about celebrating the opportunities, resilience, and camaraderie of our community. It’s an honor for The Surfing Pig to give back to the local residents and our tourists who keep our doors open year after year.”

The Surfing Pig is located at 231 W. 10th Ave., North Wildwood. More information can be found at TheSurfingPig.com/treasure.
