Ocean City Events: Corvette Show, Barry Williams Meet-And-Greet
Summer has come and gone, but there's still plenty of events planned this week in Ocean City. See what's in store:
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Summer has come and gone, but there’s still events planned this week in Ocean City, including the annual Street Rod Show, a Barry Williams meet-and-greet, and the city’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony.

Classic Car Shows

Street rods and other classic cars will be on display on the Ocean City Boardwalk during the annual Street Rod Show on Saturday, Sept. 11. Street rods are classic cars (1991 or older) modified with modern parts. On Sunday, Sept. 12, it will be all Corvettes taking the spotlight.
On Saturday, classic cars and street rods will be displayed in the municipal parking lot at Fifth Street and Boardwalk from 8 a.m. to noon and will then proceed to the Ocean City Boardwalk to be displayed until 4 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 11) in front of the Music Pier (at Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace). Registration to participate is still open with forms available at www.ocnj.us/carshow. Day-of registration will be open until 11 a.m. at the parking lot.

More than 350 cars from throughout the history of Corvettes will be on display in one of the largest shows of its kind on the East Coast. The cars will be on the boardwalk between Sixth Street and 14th Street from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12). For more information, call 609-457-0081 or visit facebook.com/OCNJCorvetteShow/.
Doo Wop Concert
As part of the weekend festivities, tickets are on sale now for a Saturday night concert with the Ocean City Pops featuring The Doo Wop Project. The performance will feature tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to "doowopified" versions of modern musicians like Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Maroon 5.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Pier. Tickets are $35 to $45 and are available by visiting oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, by calling 609-399-6111 or at the Music Pier Box Office.
Barry Williams Meet-And-Greet
Barry Williams, the actor who starred as America’s most reliable big brother in the 1970s sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” will be on hand to meet and greet fans. At noon Saturday, Sept. 11, Williams will lead the parade of classic cars and street rods down the boardwalk.
For $30 (cash only at the door), individuals can meet Williams and take a selfie with the former teen star who later was active in musical theater.
Merchandise also will be for sale for autographs. Meet-and-greets will be limited to the first 150. He will greet fans:
· 1:30 p.m. — 3 pm. Saturday, Sept. 11
· 1 p.m. — 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Ocean City’s annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday outside the Ocean City Fire Department headquarters (550 Asbury Avenue), where a 9/11 memorial sculpture is on display.
"A Day to Remember" will include music, prayer and reflections on the memory of lives lost and on the community spirit that was renewed in the 20 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. All are encouraged to attend and hear remarks from Ocean City Mayor Jay A. Gillian, Fire Chief James P. Smith and first responder Billio Olaschinez.
