Ocean City Schools Join Facebook and Twitter

Students and parents can now follow news from the Ocean City schools through social media.

The Ocean City School District will follow almost a billion other users worldwide into the realm of social media.

The district announced the launch of a Facebook page and a Twitter account at a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday.

A little late for the social media party, but determined to make an impression nonetheless, the district hopes to provide information on the schools and to establish a place for clubs, sports teams and other groups from the school community to post photos and news.

It looks, however, like the schools could use a few friends.

As of Wednesday evening, the new Facebook page had exactly one post and 52 "likes." The Twitter home showed one Tweet and 15 followers.
