Ocean City Seeks Volunteers For Boards And Commissions In 2023
Ocean City officials are seeking volunteers to fill seats on some boards and commissions for 2023:
OCEAN CITY, NJ - Ocean City officials are seeking volunteers to fill seats on several boards and commissions for 2023, officials said in a municipal notice.
Seats are currently open on the Utility Advisory Commission, Shade Tree Committee, and Environmental Commission, city officials said.
Those on the Utility Advisory Commission are tasked with providing Ocean City with electric, gas, water, sewer and cable television, as well as municipal utility authorities, as well as advising city council on rate schedules, service and other related subjects, according to the notice. Meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m.

Shade Tree Committee members are responsible for the regulation, planting, planning and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery on any public street, park or property in Ocean City. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m.
Environmental Commission volunteers are tasked with developing the use of natural resources in Ocean City, conduct research into possible use of open land areas in the city and keep an index of all publicly or privately open spaces in the municipality.

Under certain circumstances, the commission also reviews applications before the Planning Board and Zoning Board and provides input and recommendations to those boards, among other duties. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Howard S. Stainton Senior Center within the Ocean City Community Center (1735 Simpson Avenue).
