Ocean City Sponsors Rallying Behind Walk for the Wounded

The Sept. 28 event raises money for the families of injured soldiers.

Ocean City Home Bank and Operation First Response — a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to injured soldiers and their families — will present the fifth annual Walk for the Wounded on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Ocean City Music Pier.

This milestone event is supported each year through generous sponsorships and individual pledges. Sponsorship opportunities for this event, including advertising space in a dedication booklet, are selling quickly.

The American Legion Post 524, of Ocean City, one of the event’s main contributors, has become a Silver Star Sponsor by donating $2,500 to the Walk for the Wounded. A nonprofit organization, the American Legion, provides services to veterans from all branches of our nation’s military.

“The American Legion is committed to supporting our nation’s veterans and community programs. Additional sponsors for this year’s event include Shore Medical Center, Catamaran Media, Lite Rock 96.9, The Tahiti Inn, McMahon Agency, The Crab Trap, Kilpatrick Townsend, Kelly Benefits and South Jersey Industries.

Businesses are invited to choose from five different levels of sponsorships ranging from the most prestigious, Medal of Honor Sponsor, to an honorable Purple Heart Sponsor. Organizations can also place advertisements in the event’s dedication booklet, for a minor fee, thanking our nation’s servicemen. The dedication booklet will be delivered to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center so soldiers can see their support.

Operation First Response, a national 501 C(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to assisting soldiers from the onset of injuries, during their recovery period and throughout their transition back to civilian life. Of every dollar raised, Operation First Response donates 90 cents to injured soldiers and their families in times of need.
