Ocean City Tabernacle to Name New President on Sunday

Dr. Richard Stanislaw will retire after 11 years in the post.

Dr. Richard Stanislaw, president and CEO of the Ocean City Tabernacle for the past 11 years, will retire in December and his successor will be announced on Sunday (Sept. 15).

Sunday is the last worship service of summer 2013 and the last regular Sunday for Stanislaw. He will retire only after organizing the Messiah Sing-in (Dec. 7) and conducting the Christmas Concert (Dec. 14).

Services are at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday with hymnsings 15 minutes earlier for each service.

The Tabernacle Trustees will announce the 2014 president and CEO at Sunday's service.

The service also will feature Dr. Roger Petersen, professor of drama at Cairn University, as the morning speaker. The 35-voice Cairn University Chorale presents the music.

Petersen earned his doctorate at Drew University, writing about the tales of Danish author Hans Christian Anderson. He uses those same story-telling techniques in his sermon presentations.

The Chorale spends the weekend rehearsing (and enjoying the beach) at the Kull Youth Center, and then shares their newly-learned music with the Ocean City congregation.

Informal singing, ranging from hymns to new praise and worship songs, precedes each of the services. Greg Field leads with Carolyn Lothian on the concert grand Steinway piano and Jeff Seals on the four-manual Allen organ.

Child-care for those under age 4 is in the Noah’s Ark nursery and age-appropriate Sunday School is offered for children.

Everyone is welcome — come in vacation clothes.
