CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across Cape May County. (see-town-by-town data below).
According to the Cape May County Department of Health, there were 179 active cases in the county on Friday, down from the 260 reported the previous week on Oct. 29.
The latest rate of transmission (RT) in the county was .74, which is the lowest since July 6 from this summer.

An RT below 1.0 indicates that the spread of COVID-19 is decreasing, officials said.

“The latest data is very encouraging, and we thank our Cape May County residents for their hard work,” said Cape May County Commissioner Jeff Pierson. “Vaccinations are proving to be effective, and we encourage anyone who has not yet received one to protect themselves and their families.”
Cape May County officials provided the following breakdown of active cases by town, with active case totals from Oct. 29 in parentheses:

- Lower Township: 43 (68)
- Middle Township: 49 (70)
- North Wildwood: 5 (7)

- Stone Harbor: 1 (2)
- Upper Township: 21 (23)
- West Cape May: 4 (1)
- West Wildwood: 0 (0)
- Wildwood: 9 (12)
- Wildwood Crest: 4 (7)

The New Jersey Department of Health reports that 75,405 Cape May County residents have received at least one vaccine dose and 59,548 have been fully vaccinated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 67 percent of the county's population is fully vaccinated.
The Cape May County Department of Health is now offering booster shots of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Individuals that have received the Moderna vaccine must wait six months before receiving the booster shot. People who have taken the Johnson & Johnson vaccine need to wait two months before getting the booster.
The county's Department of Health will be providing all Moderna, Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccinations, including booster doses, along with flu shots at the Avalon Community Center every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. No appointments are needed for this walk-in clinic.
They will also be providing first and second doses via their mobile vaccine clinic weekly. This upcoming week, vaccines will be available:
- Tuesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christ Gospel Church, 2209 Rt. 9. in Whitesboro – First and Second shots of Moderna or First shot of Johnson & Johnson – no boosters will be given at this location.
- Wednesday, 1 to 5 p.m. at the Avalon Community Center, 3001 Avalon Ave. in Avalon – Moderna or Johnson & Johnson
