Skate Park Could Return By End of Year
City Council will soon consider plans for renovating the recreation complex near Ocean City High School's Carey Stadium.

Plans for a rehabilitated city recreation complex at Sixth Street and Boardwalk are nearly complete, and that could mean the return of an Ocean City skateboard park by the end of the year.
At Thursday's City Council meeting (Aug. 22), Ocean City Business Administrator Mike Dattilo reported that council would likely be asked to consider a resolution asking for bids on work at the site during the Sept. 26 council meeting.
In July, City Council approved $4.5 million in capital improvements that includes $550,000 for a redesign of the parking lot and recreation area between Fifth and Sixth Streets at the Boardwalk.
The work would include a rehabilitation of the municipal parking lot, return of a skateboard park that closed in 2011Â and the possible addition of two pickleball courts, among other improvements, according to Dattilo.
